Design and Implementation of Regenerative Agriculture Demonstration Site alongside Training of Local Population | 2025

Challenge

The NGO wanted to continue its work at the existing demonstration site and include additional members of the local population in the training program.

Approach

Maramia delivered a multi-faceted project exceeding USD 100,000, led by a diverse team of local and international experts. The work required adaptive project management across parallel activities, multiple languages (Kurdish, Arabic, Turkmen, English), and shifting local realities, including national elections.

Our work included assessing the status of the existing permaculture-based demonstration site, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing measures to secure its long-term sustainability. In addition, more members of the local communities were enabled through targeted grants and hands-on training.

Outcome

Repair work was identified and carried out at the demonstration site to ensure that infrastructure (e.g., irrigation) functions and that the site remains productive. 51 additional farmers were trained on principles of regenerative agriculture, resilient farm management, and water harvesting, and received micro-grants to implement these principles into their homesteads.

Deliverables

Manual for training participants, micro-grant package lists, training report including lesson plan, lessons learned, and future recommendations, site assessment report, including carried out work and suggestions for future measures.
